I ignore her blessing, so why am I still unscathed?

There’s a creepy old lady in my building who stands outside her front door and wishes everyone who passes within earshot “God bless.” Which is great, because we all know that if someone doesn’t tell you “God bless” each day, God will curse you and you will get into a horrible car accident or be struck by lightning on your way to work. Thank you, creepy old lady. We owe you our lives.
