Shu Uemura’s Skin Purifier Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil
So I tried this yesterday.
It’s Shu Uemura’s oil cleanser — the Skin Purifier Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil. I got a free sample at one of their events. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t bother with an oil cleanser, as I prefer the non-oil ones. From experience, oil-based cleansers require me to wash my face twice afterwards just to get rid of all the greasiness. Which kinda defeats the purpose of a make-up remover — so I wouldn’t have to wash my face more than once just to get rid of all the gunk on my skin. But Nadia from Shu, whom we were chatting with, and who gave us the samples and told us how to use it, assured us the product was totally non-greasy.
The cleansing oil was light and clear. As per instructions, I made sure my face and hands were dry when I took a few drops and massaged it over my face and neck. I took a few minutes to do this to make sure that I really loosened up the make-up and grime on my face. Then I rinsed off everything with water.
After I patted my face dry with a towel, I ran my fingers over my skin to check. My face wasn’t greasy at all! And it wasn’t dry either. It felt as though I could leave things as they are and not have to put on moisturizer the way I usually do after washing my face.
However, since this was a test, I used an astringent to check how much make-up and dirt the oil cleanser actually removed. This was how the cotton looked after I moistened it with my trusty Eskinol astringent and rubbed it all over my face.
As you can see, there’s a bit of what looks like make-up residue on the cotton. But just a little. In fact, that’s how my used cotton looks when I use astringent to clean my face after I had used both my usual make-up remover AND washed my face. All in all, the cleansing oil worked perfectly. And my face felt perfectly moist and non-greasy afterwards.
Now that I know how it works as a make-up remover, all that’s left is for me to see what it does to improve my skin. Will it brighten my face? Help keep my skin clear? I guess I’ll find out after a week or two!
