Subspace and coffee floats

So this post is a bit late. *sheepish*

A few weeks ago, Wilmer had his post-birthday party at his as-yet not-open-for-business Subspace Coffee House on Emerald Ave, on the corner of Garnet. It was my first time to see the place fully furnished, and with actual coffee-making going on. The four baristas were in attendance, and we had coffee and cupcakes — but for free!

Mmm, cupcakes.

The first coffee I had was the sweet purple potato latte. Of course I was an idiot and forgot to take a shot of it with the cover off, to show its purple-y goodness.

I did remedy that by taking a photo of it when I came back a week later, but this one’s the iced version.

I also had the peanut butter coffee and the Subspace coffee float.

Of course, as with all cafés, good coffee is not all you need. Subspace is full of charm — it had an industrial design interior and eclectic furniture. It was a nice change from the coffee shop chains you find in every street corner in the Metro. Wilmer and his partner Thor say Subspace was inspired by the cafés they visited during their trips to Seoul.

My favorite chair. It’s made of metal and looks like an oddly classy piece of torture equipment, but it’s one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat my ass on.

The unpainted walls had chalk drawings here and there, which gave the place a nice homey touch.

True to the café’s name, there’s even a tribute to anti-gravity on the ceiling.

And a Star Trek reference takes up an entire wall. (Yes, Wil and Thor are SF geeks too.)

There was some Korean pop influence too, in case you hadn’t noticed.

For more k-pop, they even screen Korean concerts and dramas. We were watching a Super Junior concert at the time. Say hello to Kangin and Siwon (Siwon’s neck, actually)!
